CAREL provides premium components for air handling units (AHUs), designed to support energy efficiency, reliability and indoor comfort. Programmable control for high-performance AHUs

The c.pCO range of programmable controllers, ready for the STone programming environment, enables the development of custom software for AHUs, including demanding and highly specific applications.

 

Secure software development with STone

STone supports software developers with dedicated libraries that simplify development, save time and improve the quality of control logic. The platform also integrates features required by market standards for IT security, helping protect CAREL programmable controllers against unauthorised access, unwanted manipulation and other potential risks.

STone Virtual Loop extends this approach with digital twin technology, virtualising thermodynamic units in a digital environment to validate HVAC software, including AHU applications, before deployment.

 

Airflow control and heat recovery

Airflow management is supported by dampers designed to control and recirculate air flows and, where required, bypass heat exchangers.

The damper frame can be customised in shape, depth and materials to adapt to different space and airflow requirements. Dampers are available in classes 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to EN 1751, with Class 4 thermal brake dampers helping reduce heat losses and air leakage.

Rotary heat exchangers, such as the Klingenburg RRU ECO HUgo Series, transfer sensible and latent heat with efficiency up to 85%, supporting air hygiene through selective sorption.

Adiabatic humidification for hygienic air handling

Humidity management is achieved through HPS, an adiabatic high-pressure system, that  humidifies the air in AHUs using fully demineralised water. High-pressure atomisation provides an optimum spray pattern with minimum energy consumption, while TÜV certification according to VDI 6022 supports hygiene requirements. Fast absorption, short humidification distances and stainless steel droplet separators help deliver aerosol-free supply air. 

Together, these components bring invisible intelligence behind AHU applications, helping make air handling more reliable, sustainable and easier to engineer.
