The new pRack, CAREL’s latest compressor rack controller evolution, brings smart innovation to this transition by making rack management more scalable, connected and easier to use. 

Smart innovation for more sustainable compressor rack control

As part of our Tangible sustainability commitment, the new pRack shows how sustainability becomes real inside the application. Built on the heritage of the pRack300 family, it keeps the reliable control logic developed by CAREL while introducing a new product architecture, enhanced connectivity and extended usability for modern refrigeration systems.  

Modularity that simplifies rack design

The compressor rack remains the heart of centralised refrigeration.

The new pRack is designed to deliver the intelligence and data required by each system, with only the I/Os needed to operate the specific installation. This modular approach helps build a rack architecture that reflects real application needs. A main board, available in three hardware sizes, can be combined with valve drivers and I/O expansions, making the controller scalable as machine options and installation requirements evolve.

Its I/O modularity makes the new pRack suitable for different compressor rack configurations. The controller can be adapted to the needs of the final installation, avoiding unnecessary complexity while supporting the functions required by the refrigeration system. This architecture helps simplify system design and supports more efficient use of hardware resources. From standard rack management to more advanced configurations, CAREL provides a flexible control platform designed to grow with the application.  


 

Enhanced connectivity for data-driven refrigeration

Data availability is essential for modern refrigeration systems.

The new pRack makes relevant operating information available at the right moment and to the right system, supporting remote control, maintenance and more efficient system management. The new pRack retains compatibility with RED enterprise solutions and can connect to CAREL boss supervisors, including both older and newer versions.

Direct Ethernet connection adds further flexibility, enabling remote access through APPLICA Desktop, the CAREL commissioning tool, or through the controller’s web server. Furthermore, remote interaction helps make compressor rack management simpler and more immediate. With direct Ethernet connection, the new pRack can be accessed through APPLICA Desktop or through the integrated web server, making commissioning and service activities more intuitive. The web server can also be accessed through boss, supporting smooth integration between controller and supervision system.

This connected approach brings invisible intelligence closer to daily operation, helping teams access data, settings and diagnostics when they are needed. Finally, the new pRack introduces a smoother interface with clear, self-explanatory descriptions, making configuration and operation more accessible. Frequently used generic functions have been integrated into the standard functions, while auxiliary functions have been deeply renewed. They are now more flexible and available in greater number, making it easier to personalise the control of new features in each compressor rack.

Ready for HFC/HFO, CO₂ subcritical and CO₂ transcritical systems

The new pRack is a complete solution for managing compressor racks across different refrigeration architectures. The range includes a standard version for HFC/HFO and CO₂ subcritical systems, a transcritical version and a new universal version able to manage all these systems.

This flexibility supports the transition towards lower-impact refrigeration technologies. By adapting to different system configurations, the new pRack helps make sustainability tangible through efficient control, connectivity and application-ready scalability.
