Smarter control for lower-emission PI & SPI units

High-efficiency modulation

Heos Pro shows how environmental impact reduction can become measurable inside the store. By combining natural refrigerant management, precise control and continuous modulation, the solution helps reduce energy use while supporting reliable food preservation.

Heos Pro brings together the main technologies needed to manage modern refrigerated cabinets as one coordinated system. The solution includes a dedicated controller, an intuitive user interface, configuration through the APPLICA app, Ethernet and Bluetooth® connectivity, real-time updates and diagnostics. This integrated architecture helps simplify control while improving performance. Each component works with the others to manage the refrigerant circuit, compressor modulation and operating conditions, supporting efficient and stable cabinet operation across different applications.

Continuous modulation allows the refrigeration unit to adapt its operation to real demand. The inverter and DC rotary compressor offer a wide modulation range from 25% to 100%, helping improve performance, acoustic comfort and overall system stability in a compact footprint. The stepper electronic expansion valve works in synchronisation with the compressor to provide precise refrigerant control. This coordinated management supports optimised efficiency, stable operation and accurate temperature control, helping preserve food quality while reducing unnecessary energy use.

 


 

Natural refrigerants and refrigerant-neutral flexibility

Heos Pro is designed for low-emission refrigeration units using natural refrigerants such as CO₂ and propane. The same solution supports both R744 and R290, making the kit refrigerant-neutral and giving greater flexibility in the design of plug-in and semi plug-in applications. This flexibility helps make sustainability tangible across different refrigeration strategies. Whether the application uses propane or CO₂, Heos Pro supports measurable environmental impact reduction through efficient control, natural refrigerant compatibility and continuous modulation.

Heos Pro is designed to make adoption easier in R290 units. The components are A3 ready, while the controller and display are compliant with EN 60335-2-89 Annex BB, supporting safe and flexible integration in propane-based refrigeration applications. This approach helps reduce integration complexity while addressing the specific requirements of flammable refrigerants. CAREL combines control intelligence, safety-oriented design and application know-how to support the transition towards lower-impact plug-in and semi plug-in units.

 


 

Advanced connectivity for faster setup and diagnostics

Pressure and temperature sensors provide the data needed to manage cabinet performance under different operating conditions. Heos Pro supports several sensor options, including welded ones, to ensure accurate monitoring and reliable control in the refrigeration circuit. This data-driven approach is part of the invisible intelligence behind the application. Sensors, controller logic and modulation technologies work together in real time, helping the unit respond precisely to operating conditions and maintain stable refrigeration performance.

Connectivity is central to the Heos Pro solution. Bluetooth® and NFC setup, Ethernet Modbus® TCP/IP supervision, faster polling and quick firmware updates help simplify configuration, monitoring and service activities. Real-time diagnostics and connected supervision make the system easier to manage throughout its lifecycle. From commissioning to maintenance, Heos Pro supports faster access to operating data and helps reduce operational complexity in the store.

CO₂ and R290 paths to tangible sustainability

Propane is one possible path towards more sustainable refrigeration, but Heos Pro also supports CO₂ applications. The Heos Pro approach can be applied to R744 solutions, including HEOSBOX R744 integrated with HVAC systems, to support efficiency and energy savings in point-of-sale refrigeration.
